英文求職信
從雇主的眼光思考，是求職成功的最重要關鍵。
一份好的英文求職信，當然代表求職者有相當的英文能力，或是有尋找跟運用英文資源的能力。
求職信內容包括以下幾點：
1. 「專業技能」或「成就」。描述你和應徵職位相關的經歷、訓練或貢獻等。
2. 「人格特質」或其他「職場技能」。描述你的做人處事、應對進退、協調、合群、決策、基本運算、推理、表達等能力。
3. 想專研的領域或理想雇主的條件。這點不是必要的。
第一段：表示對某個職缺的興趣
正式書信一開始不需要指名道姓，你的全名出現的位置在信尾。
1. 減少不必要形容詞和副詞。例如，”I am delighted to…,” ”…at your rapidly growing...”。
2. 第一段盡量壓在兩句內完成，讓讀者焦點擺在中間段。
原文：My name is Mary Chang. I am delighted to apply for the position of full-time veterinarian at your rapidly growing veterinary clinic. I am a recent veterinary graduate from Top University.
修改：I am a recent veterinary graduate from Top University and wish to apply for the full-time veterinarian position at your veterinary clinic.
第二段：你的「專業技能」或「成就」
1. 作者用兩個長句，是不易閱讀的。改寫成四個長短混合句，增加可讀性。
2. 避免用一個以上的動詞接同樣的受詞。例如：”…arranged and enjoyed my placements…,” “…also practiced, drilled and applied the knowledge…”。
3. 有實習經驗的學生，可以參考類似寫法，強調你的實習內容和收穫；有工作經驗的朋友，則可強調相關的成就、專案、經驗或專業證照。
原文：Throughout the veterinary course I arranged and enjoyed my placements with good range of varieties and also practiced, drilled and applied the knowledge and skills learned in University. Among my placements, I enjoyed the most was the workshop and the [dairy] farmers’ gathering where I could obtain the first-hand information regarding both individual and regional farmers’ need by chatting with them and discussed the details and possible solutions with the supervising vets.
修改：During my undergraduate veterinary training, I experienced a wide range of clinical placements, and the experience was rewarding. I was able to apply the classroom knowledge and acquire hands-on skills. It was also great to chat with dairy farmers and learn about their concerns first hand, and brainstorm with the attending veterinarians for possible solutions. The in-house training and the field trips have largely boosted my clinical confidence.
說明：
第三段：你的「人格特質」或其他「職場技能」
1.. 此段改寫的重點為強調作者的合群能力和配合度(應屆畢業學生可特別強調此特質)。
2. 有工作經驗的朋友，強調你的領導統御、談判、人脈、分析、組織、規劃、談判、社群等能力，但必須符合徵人啟事裡的條件。
原文：From my placements, I gained a great appreciation for a sound staff, teamwork, and respect in the work place. Also, these experiences have shaped my work ethic and my definition of a successful practice. I am open to new ideas and techniques and enjoy improvising and approaching problems with a flexible and pragmatic attitude.
修改：Beyond the clinical skills, I learned how to communicate with clients, work well with others and support team members. These qualities have become a big part of me and transformed my view of a practice. With my can-do work attitude, I am certain I can be a strong contributor within a team environment.
第四段：你想專研的領域或理想的雇主
1. 修改的重點在摘要出兩個作者想專攻的領域，並省掉原因部份(可以在面試時發揮)。
2. 這段尤其適合剛畢業的學生或學術界的學者。
3. 有經驗的朋友，先打聽該雇主發展的方向是否和你的專業領域一致，再決定要不要加這段。
原文：When I was in Dove for my first placement, I was intrigued by the generally inadequate passive immunity transfer in calf in dairy farms. I believe it is a big issue for every dairy farmer. Additionally, I have strong interest in emergency medicine in small animals because of the intensive following-up and animal caring, most importantly, clients’ rewarding happiness.
修改：My areas of career interest include the general inadequate passive immunity transfer in calves and emergency medicine in small animals. The clinic I wish to work for will expect me of high standards of animal care and allow me to continue to grow in professional skills and knowledge.
第五段：爭取面試機會
最後一段就像第一段，以最少字、句表達你想面試的意圖。不論你寫多少表達你的誠意或謝意，對雇主不會有太大的影響，因為大部份人都寫差不多的內容。
原文：I am looking forward a chance to introduce myself in person and a visit to your clinic. I can be contactable on my mobile: 0981333333. I will follow up with a phone call next week. Thank you for your time to consider my application. I look forward to hearing from you soon and meeting you.
修改：I look forward to further discussing my interest in your practice at your convenience. Please feel free to contact me at 0981333 333.
